Christopher Chan, DDS, MD
As a dual degree, board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Christopher Chan upholds a legacy of trusted care at Foothill Center for Dental Implants and Oral Surgery in Pasadena, serving the San Gabriel Valley for over 70 years since 1953.
Born and raised in Alhambra, he attended UCLA for his undergraduate studies, then continued his education at the USC School of Dentistry. There, he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. He was elected President of the student body and honored with multiple awards for academic distinction. He also received three scholarships to travel to Colombia, Belize, and Panama to treat impoverished populations lacking access to dental care.
Continued Education
After finishing dental school, Dr. Chan completed an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital. He then returned to Los Angeles for a six-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at USC. His specialty training included medical school at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where Dr. Chan received his MD. He completed a year in General Surgery and trained at LA General Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Keck Hospital of USC, and Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. After his residency, Dr. Chan also treated underserved populations in Los Angeles as the recipient of the CalHealthCares Program.

Dr. Chan’s clinical emphases include dental implants, All-on-4® dental implants, zygomatic implants, wisdom teeth extractions, maxillofacial trauma, oral pathology, and general anesthesia. He also received a scholarship from the Osteo Science Foundation, resulting in advanced training in 3D guided dynamic implant placement, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and platelet-rich fibrin. Dr. Chan has been heavily involved in clinical research and has contributed as primary author in several peer-reviewed journals.
Additionally, Dr. Chan maintains active memberships as a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Southern California Orofacial Academy, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and San Gabriel Valley Dental Society. He is on the Advisory Board of the Pasadena Dental Study Group and has active hospital privileges at Huntington Hospital. In his free time, Dr. Chan enjoys spending time with his family, cheering for the LA Lakers and Rams, playing basketball, and cooking.
